Approved new aids for the Self-Employed in 2022. The Council of Ministers has approved the Royal Decree-Law 2/2022 with various economic recovery measures for companies and workers. These measures include the extension of COVID-19 aids for the self-employed until the end of June 2022.
New aids for the Self-Employed in 2022
We basically distinguish between two groups or types of aids.
So the first group of these aids aims to facilitate the reactivation of the activity of the self-employed workers. For this reason, and analogous to what was done as of October, exonerations in social contributions are established for the next four months. Specifically, for the self-employed workers who have been receiving up to now the extraordinary benefits associated with the pandemic of Royal Decree-Law 18/2021. They will be exempt from their Social Security contributions. This will be 90% in March, 75% in April, 50% in May and 25% in June.
But in order to receive these contribution exemptions, self-employed workers must remain registered in the corresponding special Social Security regime until June 30, 2022.
Further, the second group of aids is focused on self-employed workers facing special situations. On the one hand, those affected by the suspension of activity due to the pandemic. On the other hand, those self-employed workers who have been affected by the volcanic eruption in the island of La Palma.
For instance, in the case of those self-employed workers who have a temporary suspension of all activity as a consequence of a resolution of the competent authority as a measure to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In this case, they will receive an extraordinary benefit, for an amount of 70% of the minimum contribution base.
In addition, they will also be exempted from Social Security contributions, although the period will be counted as having paid contributions. It will be compatible with income from paid employment up to 1.25 times the minimum wage.
