The mandatory use of Electronic Address for legal entities is reflected by law. This is so, based on the legal mandatory established for legal entities to relate electronically with the Administration. Therefore, they must register in the Electronic Address for Roads (Dirección Electrónica vial in Spanish hereinafter DEV) to receive the notifications related to the traffic sanctioning procedure. This is the responsibility of the DGT (National Traffic Dpt.) as well as of any other organization that processes traffic fines.
Mandatory use of Electronic Address for legal entities
As of November 1st, 2022, the DGT will stop sending notifications on paper and will notify legal entities only electronically through the DEV. Therefore, before that date, you must register in DEV through the electronic headquarters of the DGT website.
To do so, it will be necessary to have a valid digital certificate. And to provide at least an email address and a cell phone number so that you can receive notices of pending notifications.
How to register in the DEV
To register, it is necessary to have a digital certificate to verify your identity. We indicate the following steps to register in the DEV and receive DGT notifications by sms or email:
- Enter the web page of the “Dirección Electrónica Vial“.
- Go to Access to the service and click on Register in DEV.
- Once here, you will be asked to enter your digital certificate or electronic ID to identify yourself.
- Enter your phone number or email to make sure you read the notifications.
Once all these steps are completed, a link will appear through which you will be able to access all the notifications.
In any case, on November 1, 2022, you will be automatically assigned a Road Electronic Address. This address will be used for notifications regarding traffic sanctioning procedures. Remember that if you do not communicate to DGT an email or cell phone for this purpose, you will not receive notices of the availability of notifications of traffic fines.
For our clients, we have a service to provide them with a digital certificate.
