A brief reminder for the self-employed. On two very important issues in which the month of September is a very important date.
Mutual Changes and Extension of Coverage
We inform you that Law 35/2014 dated 26 November, in relation to the legal regime of the Mutual Insurance Companies for Accidents at Work and Professional Illnesses of the Social Security, sets 30th September as the deadline for self-employed workers to change their mutual collaborator with the Social Security or extend their coverage (contingencies for AT/EP and cessation of activity of self-employed workers).
The change will be effective as of January 1st, 2019
Self-employed: Updating of Contribution Bases
From the year 2022 the last 25 years of contribution will be used to determine the amount of your pension, so that, from the age of 42, you can revise and update your contribution base if you are interested since they will affect your future public pension (Self-Employed Persons Act).
We also remind you that, depending on the publication of the law has increased from two to four times a year the number of times you can change the basis of contribution (more info)
The terms and dates effective as of January 1st of this year are as follows:
- From January 1st to March 31st, the change will be effective on April 1st of that year.
- Secondly, from April 1st to June 30th, the change will be effective on July 1st of that year.
- From July 1st to September 30th, the change will be effective on October 1st of that year.
- Finally from October 1st to December 3st1, the change will be effective on January 1st of the following year.
