The Open Classroom for Family Business at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas is back one more year. And we with them, since for the second consecutive year we have decided to continue cooperating.
In the first place the Family Business is a fundamental pillar of our economy. However, around 90% of companies in Spain are considered Family Businesses. In addition, they account for almost 60% of GDP. And last but not least, they employ almost 7 million people.
Having said this, this cycle will deal with and deepen relevant aspects of the Family Business Management.
Family Business Management: Balance, Diversity and Talents
We live in a complex, changing and unpredictable world. For this reason, family entrepreneurs have to take advantage of all the talent at their disposal in order to be able to endure through generations. In this cycle we are going to deal with this specific aspect in which we will try to extract the lessons learned from the analysis of success stories of families that have known how to take advantage of all the talents of each one of their members. For there are many ways to be useful throughout life.
The balance of egos, the management of talents and the diversity of professions and interests in business families becomes essential to respond to the challenges posed by our businesses and our environment. Family cooperation is based on conscious and joint decision-making by all members of the family. Regardless of whether there is a coordinated division in the execution of each task. Only by developing and taking advantage of all the talents of the family will we be able to face the challenges of the continuity and growth of our businesses with self-confidence.
“Talent must be seen as the most indispensable ingredient for success, but success also depends on how that talent is managed”. Allan Schweyer
