Social Security debt deferrals are changed. In particular, the amounts of payment that can be deferred. From our Labour Consulting Department we clarify which are the new amounts.
Social Security debt deferrals
In the BOE (Official State Gazette) of 9 April 2020, a resolution was published on 6 April 2020, by the General Treasury of Social Security, modifying the amounts for deferment of payment of Social Security debts
As a result of the circumstances surrounding the health emergency caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus and its repercussions on the liquidity of companies and self-employed workers. The amounts of deferrable debts are increased, below which the provision of guarantees to ensure deferrals will not be required. This facilitates the granting of such guarantees.
Therefore, with effect from 10th April 2020, it will not be necessary to provide guarantees to ensure compliance with the deferral of social security debts when:
- the total deferrable debt is equal to or less than 150,000€ (previously 30,000€)
- or when, the deferrable debt being less than 250,000€ (previously 90,000€), it is agreed that at least one third of the latter should be paid. Before ten days have elapsed since notification of the concession and the rest in the following two years.
The present resolution will allow a faster and more efficient resolution of the applications, facilitating the granting of the same.
