Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a way of running companies. It is fundamentally based on the management of the impacts generated by its activity. Impacts on customers, employees, shareholders, local communities, the environment and society in general.
What is Corporate Social Responsibility?
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a transversal concept that affects different areas of the company’s management. Therefore, the activities carried out within the framework of CSR must be clearly linked to the company’s basic activity, have a permanent vocation so that they do not become specific initiatives isolated from each other and, furthermore, must imply a clear and unequivocal commitment from senior management, which drives and exemplifies the commitment of the entire organisation.
Without doubt, it implies the obligatory compliance with national and international legislation in the social, labour, environmental and human rights fields as a starting point. But, in addition, any other voluntary action that the company wants to undertake to improve the quality of life of its employees, the community in which it operates and society as a whole.
In other words, it implies objective ethical commitments that thus become an obligation for those who make them.
Therefore, it means really believing that a company is not just a turnover or a balance sheet. To believe that it is a project that transcends much further.
Generally speaking, there is agreement on the major thematic areas covered by Corporate Social Responsibility: economic, social and environmental. And within these areas we can find many points in which to act. However, as we have already said, CSR is a transversal concept that touches many areas of a company. When we talk about smaller organisations such as SMEs, it affects health protection (starting with the employees themselves), work and employment practices, team motivation and a sense of belonging.
How can I do that?
At Arrabe Integra, some time ago we chose our own path, with both internal and external measures.
Today we want to share some of the activities in the social field that we have been implementing for some time. And that we would like to be able to share them with all those clients who have doubts about which initiatives are worthwhile.
First of all, we support the Mashumano Foundation, sponsoring and offering advice to the winners of their Mashumano Youth Awards. Its main objective is to encourage and support the Socially Responsible Talent of young people. Offering training, advice and support through an itinerary of guided and mentored accompaniment.
With the Botín Foundation and its extraordinary project Sharing Values of Talent Solidarity. Which facilitates meeting points between companies and the social sector. Collaborating both at the level of the company itself and those who work in Arrabe Integra in different initiatives:
Madrina Foundation, with the creation and financing of a training space in entrepreneurship through the learning of the sewing and patronage trade that promotes family self-sustainability. In addition to several volunteer initiatives in campaigns of the Foundation itself.
Menudos Corazones Foundation, carrying out various volunteer activities in the recreational and educational activities coordinated by Menudos Corazones in hospitals in Madrid aimed at alleviating the collateral effects of hospital stays on minors admitted for heart surgery.
Desarrollo y Asistencia Foundation, through its Mentoring for a Job programme, carrying out corporate volunteering for the social and labour insertion of homeless people.
